Holliday anticipates the mural to be complete by early October, although weather may cause unforeseen delays.

Baum said her father worked for Missouri Pacific, a predecessor of the modern Union Pacific railroad, for his entire life. Gail Hughes, the former community "mover and shaker" that envisioned the mural among others, was also a family friend and once a youth director at her church.

Baum said Holliday, the Jefferson City muralist tasked with replicating Hughes' idea on the wall, is a "teacher at heart" who has helped her grow while working on the project.
