California UCC to host World Day of Prayer

California United Church of Christ (UCC) will host this year's World Day of Prayer.

According to a release from California UCC, the church will hold a special service at 1 p.m. on March 1 to celebrate the event. The ecumenical movement reserves the first Friday of March for Christian women to pray together in service of others.

"Invite your friends, family and communities of faith to join the women of the world in prayer and song, support peace and healing," the release said. "The offering helps meet the needs of families around the world who are victims of many forms of poverty, violence and injustice."

"World Day of Prayer was founded on the idea that prayer and action are inseperable in the service of God's kingdom," the release continued.
