Uncontested races eliminate elections for four area school districts

Two boards to remain the same

Ahead of late December filing deadlines, four area school districts had eight school board openings.

Those four districts received exactly eight filings -- with many incumbents running unopposed in the April 2 election, eliminating the need for an election. Two incumbents in two districts, California and Jamestown, did not run for re-election.

In the California R-I School District, Casey Wasser filed to replace Brandon Dunham and incumbent Allison Kruger filed for reelection. Kruger is currently the board's vice president, with Dunham being president of the board. Dunham did not file for reelection.

In Russellville, incumbents Renee Bungart and Jenifer Seaver ran unopposed for seats on the Cole R-I Board of Education. Bungart serves as vice president of the board, and Seaver is its secretary.

Incumbent Susan McNay filed for re-election to the Jamestown C-I Board of Education. Daniel Fosnow filed to replace Rick Whitson, whose three-year term is expiring and did not file for re-election.

Incumbents Luther "Luke" Gier and Will Wright are running unopposed for the High Point R-III Board of Education.

All terms are unpaid and three years in length. There are no term limits for school board members. Clarksburg C-II, Latham R-V and Prairie Home R-V have not yet responded with their candidates for the April 2 election.
