Gone are the shrubs that were planted out front, which have been replaced with stairs and a wheelchair ramp leading to the facility's main entrance, along with more sidewalk space. Local contractor JK Concrete constructed the stairs and ramp for $62,500, to help bring the facility into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The contractor still needs to install railings to complete the ramp.
No move is easy.
But the California Police Department has been making it work since moving in early November to its new home at 101 E.
