Lighted tractor parade leads to Holiday Express

Lighting up the Russellville Holiday Express will be the new tractor parade rolling down Railroad Street Dec. 8.

At 5:15 p.m. the city's Agri-Leaders Tractor Parade will kick-off the event delivering a special guest along with a bright display.

"We're delivering Santa," President Tony Amos said.

He said anyone interested in decorating their tractors or other motorized vehicles with lights are welcome to join in. No sign up required. Participants are expected to line up at Russellville High School at 4:30 p.m.

"We just thought it would be a good thing for the Holiday Express (and) give them a little more publicity," Amos said.

The free event at Railroad Park will include games, balloon animals, cookies and hot cocoa from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

"We're super-excited about the event," said Russellville Parks Activity Director Tina Amick. "We had 100 people participate last year and are expecting a larger crowd this year."

Amick said they doubled the lights in the park. Live holiday music, performed by the children's group and local churches, will fill the air.

In Santa's workshop, photos with the man in the big red suit can be taken at the caboose.

"We're grateful to our sponsors the community has just really showed support for this event," Amick said.
