A California man was arrested Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance near a school.

A deputy assigned as a school resource officer in the California School District received a report of a person looking through vehicles on school property, according to Moniteau County Sheriff's Department reports.

The deputy located Corey Coffelt, 24, who reportedly told the deputy he was in possession of methamphetamine. He was searched, and the deputy allegedly found Coffelt was in possession of the drug.
