Sedalia man charged in weekend Tipton shooting

Officers with the Tipton Police Department, along with deputies of the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office, responded to a report of shots fired Friday at an apartment complex in the 400 block of High Street in Tipton.

Upon arrival, officers located one female subject, 48, from Tipton outside the location with multiple gunshot wounds. A second female subject, 28, of Tipton was also on location with lacerations to her head.

The individuals at the scene stated a male subject, Bobby Moore, had arrived at the apartment complex and confronted the second female, whom Moore had previously dated. The mother of the female then came outside, where Moore produced a handgun and shot her multiple times. Moore then reportedly struck the second female in the head with the handgun and fled the area on foot. The second female was transported to a hospital in Jefferson City by ambulance while the first female was transported to the University of Missouri Hospital by helicopter.

A search was then conducted for Bobby Moore by the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office, Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Tipton Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Tipton City Marshal Edward Wiecken, along with other Tipton Police officers, were searching the area on foot and checking the perimeter of St. Andrews Catholic School at 1:11 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West Cooper when they found Moore attempting to hide near a doorway. Marshal Wiecken found Moore had a handgun in his hand and ordered him to drop the weapon. Moore then rose with the handgun in his hands and began to move toward the officers, who continued to urge him to stop. Moore disregarded all commands. Marshal Wiecken then fired five founds striking Moore, who immediately fell to the ground.

Deputies and the Highway Patrol then arrived on location and administered first aid to Moore until the arrival of a Mid-Mo Ambulance. Moore was then flown to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

As of Saturday, the second female was treated and released from the hospital. At print time, her mother is currently in the hospital but is listed in stable condition after surgery. Moore is currently in the hospital and is listed in stable condition after surgery but is under guard by the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators with the Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime control also responded to the crime scene and are assisting with the investigation.

Bobby Joe Moore, 43, of Sedalia, has been charged in Moniteau County with first degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, second degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and unlawful used of a weapon. No bond is allowed.
