Mike Keith, of Clinton, presented a new plan for property, casualty and cyber insurance for the Mid-Mo Ambulance District at its regular meeting Dec. 11.

Keith gave the board a quote from Provident Fire Plus for casualty, liability and property coverage. The district's previous insurance was with Continental Western, but Keith informed the board it would no longer be covering ambulance services in the state of Missouri as of April 2020. As the district is in good standing when it comes to insurance with no serious claims and a clean record, the time was now to switch. Keith said several other ambulance districts are currently using the Provident Program. Provident's quote is $46,000 with no lesser coverage, yet more in a few instances. Keith said the price is fair and then explained the district's cyber policy. He said the policy has gone down in the market this year, saving the district nearly $1,300. A motion to move to Provident Fire Plus and renew the cyber policy was approved by the board.

In other business, the board heard a letter from Moniteau County Sheriff Tony Wheatley regarding an old ambulance the district has taken off their fleet. Since October, the sheriff's office has been using an old 1998 Ford ambulance the county received from the district several years ago. The sheriff's office has since equipped the unit with crime scene collection tools, installed cameras, recording system, radios, WiFi, printers and much more to be used as a mobile response unit, which has been a great asset to the office. Wheatley, however, said the unit has serious electrical issues due to its age. The cost to repair the unit will be more than the office can afford. Wheatley, in the letter, asked the district if it was possible to to receive the old truck the district has to replace it. Administrator Lee Kempf said the district has given other tax supported entities ambulances no longer used by the district, so he recommended doing so with this particular unit, a 2006 GMC ambulance. A motion was made and approved.

The board also agreed to raise the base pay for employees over a four-year period so as to keep up with the increases in minimum wage. During the meeting, a 90-cent raise was approved for all employees including office staff.

Run stats for the month of November were: Tipton - 52 calls with 32 transports; California - 74 calls with 45 transports; Versailles - 165 calls with 105 transports. Total calls district-wide were 291 with 182 transports, for a transport rate on patient contact calls of 74.6 percent.
