When Lana Chiem visited California, she noticed there was not a nail salon in town. As she experienced the friendliness of the people, she said the town seemed perfect for her to open a business.
LC Nails is expected to open at 511 S. Oak St. in July.
Chiem has been in the profession for more than 10 years. About seven years ago, she opened Nails First in Jefferson City.
"I like to do the dipping powder," Chiem said about one reason she enjoys working in the salon.
Creating nail art designs is also one of her specialties, she added. Other services include gel manicures, acrylic nail full sets, deluxe pedicures, eyebrow waxing and more.
The space was renovated by Drinkard Construction, Get It LLC.
Curt Drinkard, co-owner of the company, said the remodel included ceiling work, walls, plumbing, LED lights and more.
The old flooring was stripped and vinyl plank similar to barn wood was added. Inside, five pedicure chairs line the left wall with four nail tables across the way. A waiting area and drying stations set in front.
When the salon opens, Chiem will be joined by her mother, Linh Nguyen.
"If they come to my shop, they can get good service," Chiem said.
