Jefferson City woman arrested for drug possession

A Jefferson City woman was arrested Tuesday after Moniteau County deputies reportedly pulled her over for a stop sign violation and discovered illegal drugs in her vehicle.

Michelle Sitton, 49, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated on drugs, the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office reported.

Deputies report Sutton was nervous and uncooperative during the stop after they saw her throwing something down inside her vehicle. When she refused consent to search the vehicle, K-9 officer Apollo was called to the scene, where he reportedly alerted for drugs inside the car. Deputies then recovered hyrdrocodone pills, for which Sitton could not produce proof she had a prescription.

She was taken to the Moniteau County Jail, where her bond for the two charges was set at $25,241.50.
