California woman involved in Howard County wreck

A Mid-Missouri woman tried unsuccessfully to avoid a two-car collision Tuesday afternoon in Howard County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Dollie M. Mueller, 79, of California, was driving westbound on U.S. 40 one-quarter mile west of Missouri 87 when an eastbound vehicle driven by Dorothy V. Feleten, 64, of New Franklin, crossed over the center of the road.

In an attempt to avoid a collision, Mueller's car traveled off the right side of the road but was struck by Feleten's vehicle. Feleten received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia following the 3:15 p.m. crash.

The patrol reported no injuries for Mueller. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
