Arrests made at Casey's for drugs

Three arrests were made Oct. 7 in the Casey's General Store parking lot in California for possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies with the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office and the California Police Department discovered two vehicles stopped in the parking lot of Casey's, where five individuals were gathering outside the vehicles.

One subject, identified as Michael Taylor, instantly became uncooperative and attempted to walk away from the scene. A quick check of the subjects found they all were on probation/parole for possession of controlled substances. Deputies then asked for consent to search both vehicles. One vehicle was searched with nothing discovered inside. The second driver refused consent, leaving K-9 Mizzou to be deployed on the vehicle. Mizzou gave a positive alert for drugs, where deputies located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and tools commonly used in burglary or theft.

During the search, Taylor, who was being uncooperative, was placed in restraints and detained in the back of a patrol unit. Taylor then started yelling and moving around the inside of the patrol vehicle. Deputies then searched Taylor and found methamphetamine that he was attempting to hide on his person.

Three out of the five subjects in the incident were taken into custody and transported to the Moniteau County Jail.

Michael J. Taylor, 24, of Jefferson City, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia, with bond set at $25,000.

Tucker G. Cady, 22, of Mokane, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia, with bond set at $25,000.

Abigail M. Heiland, 22, of California, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia, with bond set at $25,000.
