The Moniteau County Regional Economic Development Council discussed plans for its April annual meeting, among other topics, at MRED's October meeting.

MRED is tentatively targeting 6 p.m. Thursday, April 9, for the meeting. MRED President Mike Kelley said he has confirmed that Rob O'Brien, former Joplin Chamber of Commerce president, is willing to be the event's speaker. Because of this, members agreed it would be prudent to open the meeting to invited guests from Tipton and California's chambers of commerce. Kelley said he will bring a more detailed proposal to MRED's next meeting.

Members also discussed Startup Moniteau and Central Missouri Business Leaders, both of which launched last month. Kelley said both events resulted in good turnouts.

The next Central Missouri Business Leaders meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. today at Grind Gathering Place. This month's speaker will be Mr. G's owner Norris Gerhart, and participants will also discuss the importance of creating a business plan.

Startup Moniteau will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at Co-Mo Electric in Tipton. The November meeting, previously scheduled to take place in Jamestown, has been moved to take place at Co-Mo Electric.

MRED's next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 13.
