Russellville to unveil new picnic tables

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - The Russellville Parks and Recreation Committee will host a free ice cream event to welcome new picnic tables to City Park.

The committee received a $4,834 Missouri Department of Natural Resources Non-Playground Scrap Tire Surface grant for six picnic tables made from recycled tire scraps in July.

An ice cream social from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, is scheduled to show off the park improvements, Director Tina Amick said.

"As a volunteer for the city of Russellville Parks and Rec, we will continue to seek opportunities to better our community parks without taxing our city budget," Amick said. "We hope everyone will come out to see how fees collected from scrap tires and the tires themselves can be turned into such a durable product to be enjoyed for years to come."

City Park is located behind the Russellville Elementary School. The facility has a pavilion, gazebo, playground and Shelter House, which is available for rent for events.

The city is accepting bids for the current tables and other city equipment at the pavilion.

Bids can be taken to 13203 Railroad Ave. until 3 p.m. Thursday, city clerk Jan Wyatt said.

The Russellville Board of Aldermen will open bids at its 6 p.m. public meeting.
