Library extends closure through April

The Moniteau County Library Board of Trustees voted unanimously Thursday to keep the library closed until April 30.

This includes a reduction in hours for the library's curbside service. Patrons may pick up materials on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m.-noon. To order materials for curbside pickup, patrons may call the library at 573-796-2642 to leave a message, or send an email to [email protected], and library staff will follow up about your request.

The board also voted to allow only one employee working in the library at a time. The decision was based on the recommendations of the federal government, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state, and local public health officials.

Patrons are encouraged to access the library's digital resources while the physical library is closed via www.moniteaucountylibrary.org. The web page links may be used to access the many electronic materials available, including eBooks for adult and children, digital audio books, and digital story times provided by library staff. The library's Wi-Fi is available 24/7 from outside the library.

"We know there is no substitute for a visit to your library," Moniteau County Library Director Connie Walker said. "We are committed to getting our library reopened as soon as it is safe. In the meantime, we will continue to offer limited curbside service, unless further restrictions are imposed. Watch for updates through our website, and the Library's Facebook page. The Board of Trustees feel the only way to ensure that everyone is following the recommended social distancing in our library is to extend the time our facility is closed. All due dates have been extended until the library reopens. Thank you for your support of the Moniteau County Library. We hope to see you soon."
