With temperatures expected to drop, warming centers are available in the Jefferson City area and surrounding counties to provide shelter from the cold.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has an online database of warming shelters in the state.

DHSS recommends calling ahead to centers if possible due to potential changes because of COVID-19.

DHSS lists three warming centers in Moniteau County:

Moniteau County Library, 501 S. Oak St., California; 573-796-2642; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

California Nutrition Center, 107 W. Versailles Ave., California; 573-796-4240; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call first if weather is bad.

Moniteau Nutrition Center, 421 Independence Ave., Tipton; 660-433-2715; 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call first if weather is bad.

Morgan County

Jefferson City

Clarke Senior Center, 1310 Linden Drive; 573-634-8020; 8 a.m.-4 p.m Monday through Friday; closed during severe weather and on holidays.

Missouri River Regional Library, 214 Adams St.; 573-634-2464; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
