Authorities have identified the remains of a body found Monday in a wooded area in Miller County.

Officials at the Boone County Medical Examiners Office and University of Missouri Department of Anthropology determined that the person was Timothy Nicholas, 53, according to a news release from Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire.

Nicholas was reported missing in 2019 after a collision on Witt Road in Miller County.

At the time, Gregoire said, Nicholas had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest and fled the scene of the accident prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

Nicholas' remains were found within three-fourths of a mile from where the accident occurred.

The investigation in ongoing, Gregoire said.
