Moniteau County contributes toward statewide Bicentennial projects

Moniteau County has been contributing toward statewide projects recognizing the upcoming state Bicentennial.

The Moniteau County Historical Society is the sponsor of the County Bicentennial activities. The Democrat carried a story earlier this year regarding the quilt block selected to represent Moniteau County for the commemorative Bicentennial quilt. Once the quilt representing all Missouri counties is complete, it will tour the state during the Bicentennial celebration.

Lloyd Grotjan is the chair of the Moniteau County Bicentennial Missouri Photograph project. The statewide project invited photographers to help piece together a visual record of Missouri. The Missouri State Historical Society will select 200 photographs from those submitted for an exhibition across the state in 2020-2021. The collection will be preserved and used by researchers, teachers and students, and the public for generations to come.
