COVID-19 testing event planned in Moniteau County

A free COVID-19 testing event is scheduled Thursday in Moniteau County.

The free testing event, offered in partnership between the Moniteau County Health Center, SSM Health and the Community Health Center of Central Missouri, will take place from 2-4 p.m. July 9 in the Health Center parking lot at 401 S. Francis St. in California.

Testing is free to the public and open to anyone with or without symptoms of COVID-19.

Those who wish to be tested should bring a photo ID and current insurance card. If uninsured, testing will still be free. Individuals will remain in their vehicles for the duration of their time at the testing site.

Test results should be available by Saturday.

Moniteau County confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the county's total case count since the pandemic began to 74. One patient among the county's 16 active cases has been hospitalized.

A free community testing event in Jefferson City, operated by the Missouri National Guard, continues Wednesday and Thursday at the former Cole County Health Department building at 1616 Industrial Drive. To register for the Cole County testing event, visit health.mo.gov/communitytest or call the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services COVID-19 Hotline at 877-435-8411. On-site registration will also be offered.
