Driver arrested after Miller County wreck

An Osage Beach man was arrested after a crash early Wednesday morning in Miller County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show Chase Derboven, 19, was arrested for second-degree assault, minor in possession, failure to drive on the right side of the road and not wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred just after midnight on Horseshoe Bend Parkway at Blackhawk Drive, according to the patrol.

Derboven attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control, went off the left side of the road, went airborne, hit the ground, went airborne again and struck a utility pole.

Derboven and his passenger, Samuel Huff, 18, of Osage Beach, were not wearing their seat belts. They both were ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

Huff was flown by helicopter ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia following the wreck. Derboven was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
