A pair of Sedalia residents were arrested on drug-related charges over the weekend in Moniteau County.
On June 13, deputies with the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Missouri Highway 5 just south of Tipton for speeding. Upon approach of the vehicle, the deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana. The deputy had the driver, identified as Michael L. Taylor Jr., 28, exit the vehicle along with the passenger, identified as Tanaeia Smith, 27.
Upon search of the vehicle, deputies located marijuana and ecstasy, a schedule 1 controlled substance. Both subjects admitted to deputies that they had purchased the ecstasy in Kansas City, Kansas, and had taken it to the Lake of the Ozarks for a party. Both subjects were then taken into custody and transported to the Moniteau County Jail.
Taylor, of Sedalia, was charged with delivery of a schedule 1 controlled substance (ecstasy), possession of marijuana and driving without a valid drivers license, with bond set at $25,000.
Smith, also of Sedalia, was charged with delivery of a schedule 1 controlled substance (ecstasy) and possession of marijuana, with bond set at $25,000.
