Lions Club discusses fair plans, awards Bloch Gold Centennial

The California Lions Club discussed plans for the Moniteau County Fair later this year, among other business, at its monthly meeting last Wednesday.

The club discussed having its regular funnel cake trailer at this year's County Fair. It was decided the group would be making its famous cakes Monday through Saturday evenings as usual but will only be serving the traditional cake with powdered sugar, along with sodas and water.

Afterward, president Sarah Jones presented Paul Bloch with the Gold Centennial Award. Bloch was presented this award in recognition for recruiting and retaining up to 100 new members. Bloch became a California Lion back in October 1991 and is still a very instrumental member in the club. He has been involved in numerous activities throughout the years, but the one he is most famous for is the American flag program, which he started. As far as today, there are over 100 California participants in the program, making it the club's largest fundraiser.
