A second positive case of the novel coronavirus has been confirmed in Cole County, the Cole County Health Department announced in a news release Wednesday evening.
As with the first confirmed case in the county, this is also a travel-related case, health officials said.
No personal information about the case will be shared, according to the release.
Health officials are working with the person to ensure they are following Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines in regards to isolation and to identify close contacts to monitor them for symptoms.
Twenty-four cases have now been confirmed in Missouri, as of Wednesday evening.
"It is important that each and every one of us continue to practice basic preventative measures to help decrease the spread," the Health Department release notes. "These measures, as outlined by the CDC, include avoiding contact with people who are sick, covering coughs and sneezes, proper hand-washing, cleaning frequently used surfaces, and staying home when sick."
Anyone who suspects they have COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with the disease should call their health care provider before seeking care.
