Moniteau County's first confirmed case of coronavirus was reported Saturday.

The patient is currently in home isolation, according to information from the Moniteau County Health Center.

According to the release, the Moniteau County Health Center continues to work with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to identify and contact individuals who may have come into contact with the individual while they were infectious and will monitor them for fever and respiratory symptoms. No other information was provided regarding the patient.

To reduce the risk and prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Health Center encourages following these basic preventative measures:

Adhere to social distancing.

Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

Stay home if you are sick.

Cover coughs and sneezes.

Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces frequently.

Health Center administrator Andrea Kincaid can be contacted at 573-796-3412 for more information about the spread of COVID-19 in the county.
