Lincoln University students have extra time to apply for scholarship funds from the 62nd & 65th Regiments Legacy Foundation Inc. because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

LU in December 2018 terminated its memorandum of understanding with its foundation, a new memorandum was not agreed upon, and the foundation later re-branded itself as The 62nd & 65th Regiments Legacy Foundation.

The 62nd & 65th has set a new deadline of June 30 for scholarship applications.

"During this pandemic, the 62nd & 65th Legacy Foundation has adjusted to assure Lincoln University students that its services are here for you financially. The foundation will do its best to provide the resources necessary for students to continue their education at our alma mater," 62nd & 65th President Hardy K. Dorsey Sr. said in a news release.

Application forms are available at 62-65rlf.com/applications-for-scholarships.

"The university does not have specific deadlines for its limited number of scholarships," Lincoln spokeswoman Misty Young. "Awards are made on a first come, first served basis until the funds are depleted."

Information about the availability of LU scholarships is available by contacting the university's Office of Admissions and Recruitment. With the Jefferson City campus closed to all but essential staff because of the pandemic, the admissions office can be reached by email at [email protected].
