The Moniteau County Library board met May 20 to discuss reopening the library to the public.

The board decided to allow the community access to the library starting Tuesday but with restrictions to keep everyone safe. They will only be allowing a certain number of people in the library at a time to continue practicing social distancing rules, and computer use will have a limit imposed as necessary. As another precaution, a sign of COVID-19 symptoms and a risk checklist will be placed on the door for those wishing to enter the library. For those who would rather not, the library will still be continuing to do curbside pickup, which it started offering earlier this month.

The board also discussed this year's Summer Reading Program, which will begin Tuesday and run until July 24. In Latham, the program will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays in the school's parking lot. For Jamestown, it will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays in the Lion's Club Pavilion or at the community building. Virtual storytime will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. Incentives for the Summer Reading Program are still in the planning phase.

The Moniteau County Library board will discuss further details of fully reopening the library at its next meeting June 17.
