Gas leak causes brief road closure in California

A gas leak led to a roadway shutdown in California for part of the day Monday.

At around 11:30 a.m. Monday, an Ameren Missouri contractor was boring a new gas line into a building as part of a five-year gas renewal project. The crew hit a portion of a gas line near Janet Blvd, causing a leak.

Following normal procedure, the California Fire Department responded to the scene and shut down the roadway. According to a spokesperson with Ameren Missouri, no evacuations were necessary, and crews secured the gas leak just after 4 p.m. Monday.
