CPI postpones Spooktacular

California Progress, Inc. elected to postpone another event Sunday, joining another cancellation discussed at the board's last regular monthly meeting.

In a social media post, CPI announced the Eitzen Mansion Spooktacular, a fundraiser to benefit Latham Memorial Family Park, would be postponed. The event was originally scheduled for this Saturday. CPI also canceled its annual fundraiser, typically held in conjunction with the group's annual meeting, earlier this month.

The post cited the rapidly increasing number of coronavirus cases in the community as the principle reason for the postponement. Active cases of COVID-19 in Moniteau County passed 100 for the first time since the start of the pandemic this week.

While the event was still set to proceed as planned less than a week out with extra precautions in place, the board decided keeping the community safe is a priority and it was best to change the event to a later date, according to the social media announcement.

As such, CPI said anyone who has purchased tickets, donated or volunteered to help at the event will be contacted over the next few days.
