CHS teachers to host ACT workshops

Students at California High School have the opportunity to sign up for a series of test preparation workshops that start later this month.

CHS teachers Mr. Michael Baepler, Mrs. Denise Banderman and Mrs. Dana Barr will be providing a workshop for the ACT. Barr will cover the English and reading portions, Banderman will instruct the math section, and Baepler will cover the science reasoning portion.

For this to be effective, students should ideally attend all sessions for either the English/reading or the math/science reasoning workshops and then take the ACT test. Instruction, practice and simulated testing will be provided. Workshop dates for first semester are as follows:

English/reading - 5:45-7:45 p.m. in Mrs. Barr's Room (107): Sept. 23, Oct. 7 and Oct. 21.

Math/science reasoning - 5:45-7:45 p.m. in Mr. Baepler's Room (204) or Mrs. Banderman's Room (308): Sept. 30, Oct. 14 and Oct. 28.

Students attending the workshop must be a current junior or senior and must purchase a workbook for $24. If attending both workshops, students will need both workbooks, for a total of $48.

A group order will be placed through the high school office at 3 p.m. Sept. 10. Cash or checks made payable to CHS must be given to the office staff by that time, or the student will not be able to obtain the workbook. Students must have possession of a workbook in order to attend the sessions.
