Lions Club prepares for Christmas

The California Lions Club met Wednesday, Sept. 16 to talk about preparations for Christmas this year.

The group's first topic of discussion was Toys for Tots. The Lions have donated to Toys for Tos in the past in 2016 - it's been so long since they last donated because they were also doing Angel Tree. The group plans on doing Toys for Tots this year and donating $500.

They then moved on to Christmas in Proctor Park, which they participated in last year. The Lions plan on decorating their shelter house again this year.

Last year, the Lions sponsored a young lady, Allison Miller, at the Missouri School of the Blind. Though she has graduated, Miller is still attending the school to build life long skills. The club decided to sponsor her and her family again for this Christmas. If COVID-19 doesn't cancel the school's Christmas Extravaganza, they plan on attending. They will be providing Miller with $300 and a $50 gas card for each of her parents.

The Lions finished their meeting with a financial report. They currently have $9,933.66 in their account, giving them the chance to help the community in multiple ways.
