Seaver, Bungart win Russellville school board seats

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - Jenifer Seaver and Renee Bungart were elected to three-year terms on the Cole R-1 Board of Education in Tuesday's election.

Seaver received 367 votes (42.23 percent), Renee Bungart received 300 votes (34.52 percent), and Lannie Sullivan received 194 votes (22.32 percent).

There were 869 votes from Cole and Moniteau counties cast in the race, including eight for write-in candidates.

In Cole County, Seaver received 321 votes (42.18 percent), Bungart received 258 votes (33.90 percent) and Sullivan received 175 votes (23 percent). There were seven write-in candidates.

In Moniteau County, Seaver received 46 votes (42.59 percent), Bungart received 42 votes (38.89 percent) and Sullivan received 19 votes (17.59 percent). There was one write-in candidate.

Seaver, of Russellville, is the current board secretary and president of Missouri Baptist Credit Union. She has three children in the district. This will be her second term on the board.

Seaver said she's excited to work on the district's plan for expansion and growth and to improve educational programs in the district.

"I'm excited to keep doing the work we're doing," she said.

Bungart, of Russellville, is a website administrator and former communications director for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. This will be her first term on the board.

Bungart could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
