Voters overwhelmingly approve Russellville-Lohman Fire Protection tax levy increase

Russellville-area voters have overwhelmingly approved Proposition 1, a tax levy increase for the Russellville-Lohman Fire Protection District.

The tax levy increase will add an annual tax of $0.27 per $100 of assessed valuation to provide funds for the support of the district. For a home with a value of $100,000, it would result in a tax increase of $51.30 annually. Across the district, the levy would generate $145,000-$150,000 per year.

The additional funding will allow for the fire district to begin to address station improvements, equipment upgrades and better PPE for volunteer firefighters to help the district maintain its current level of service.

Between Moniteau and Cole counties, 344 votes were cast in favor of the ballot measure; 74 percent of the vote in Cole County was in favor of the ballot measure, as were 84.21 percent of Moniteau County votes.
