COVID case count continues climb

Active COVID-19 cases in Moniteau County have continued their climb, having held steady in the mid-60s for the better part of a week.

Active cases as of press time Tuesday, per the Moniteau County Health Center's COVID-19 dashboard, stand at 66. The total case count since March of 2020 had reached past 2,200 by the end of July, and as of press time is 2,236. Besides weekends, when the Health Center doesn't update its dashboard information, new daily cases have consistently been added to the tally for weeks.

One positive element is the county's vaccination rate, which has begun a slight increase. Per the state's COVID-19 vaccination dashboard, an estimated 30.3 percent of Moniteau County residents have initiated vaccination, a 3 percent jump from mid-July. The percentage of those who have completed vaccination still sits at around 25 percent.

The Health Center continues to urge citizens to reach out at 573-796-3412 to schedule a COVID vaccination. The Health Center continues to administer vaccinations to anyone 12 and older, both at the office in California and at recent vaccine clinics around the county.
