Beards and Shears Barbershop is set to move from its current location to a new spot on the Oak Street strip.

The new location will be at 505 Oak Street, next to the Moniteau County Library. The building is currently undergoing some remodeling to make it exactly what owner Kelsay Graham has in mind.

"My current location has worked well for the past three years, but it was never my ideal location," Graham said. "I always pictured my barbershop in a place with more character and charm with a storefront and windows to decorate."

To that end, Graham said she has one specific handyman doing much of the legwork.

"My crafty husband is doing most of the work himself, but our plan is to have it all done mid-February," Graham said. "But I don't have a date set in stone yet."

The new space will be much different than her current location, Graham said. She has plans to create an old school vintage barbershop vibe mixed with her more edgy, grungier style. They are putting up new sheet rock, painting, putting in new flooring, tearing out the drop ceiling to use the original tin ceiling and putting in new lighting.

"I can't wait to share this experience with my customers. This would never have been possible without them," Graham said. "I can't thank them enough for supporting my little barbershop dream."

Graham said she plans on having a grand opening when the time comes, so be sure to keep an eye out on the Beards and Shears Barbershop Facebook page.
