There's a new face manning the front desk at the California Police Department - new CPD clerk Staci Howard.

Howard started in the role May 17, leaving her just past two months on the job. Howard originally hails from Russellville, and moved to California more than six years ago. She got a job working at Mr. G's Liquor when she arrived in California and, as she got older, decided to move on to other opportunities that would help her serve her new community.

That led Howard to the CPD. After seeing an ad for her current position on Facebook, Howard applied for the job and eventually received it.

Now, Howard said she is proud to be a part of the California Police Department and that she "absolutely loves it." While Howard said she has a lot of new work, she is happy to handle it, and is grateful both for the opportunity and how welcoming it has been entering her new role.

"I handle all of the paperwork for the police department," Howard said. "They added in a community service aide, which is going out and dealing with ordinances, and then I've taken on training for the evidence room to kind of help with that process with the police department."

Howard said since moving to California, she has discovered just how much she enjoys being a part of the town. With that in mind, she said she and the CPD are always ready to help their community and if anyone needs assistance, all they need to do is reach out.

"I love it here, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, and I plan on staying for a long time," Howard said. "I really like the community here. Russellville was a small town and, I mean, everybody knew each other, but the community here is just a lot closer. It's just so comforting to go somewhere that you're so welcomed and it's just awesome. I love the atmosphere here."
