A Jefferson City man was charged Wednesday in connection with a slaying that occurred in May at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Online court records show Chad Brewer, 29, is charged with first-degree murder, delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities believe Brewer shot Vonza Watson, 27, a rapper and visual artist who went by the stage name VNZA.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office identified Watson as the victim after the May 29 shooting at Lazy Gators entertainment venue near Lake Ozark. He was shot in the chest.

The Associated Press reported investigators said video footage from a bar patron and surveillance cameras showed several people fighting when Brewer raised his arm and fired a shot.

Watson, who grew up in Jefferson City and Michigan, had most recently been living in the Kansas City area.
