Two injured in Moniteau County crash


Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Moniteau County.

At 5:05 a.m., Michael A. Collins, 39, of Jefferson City, was turning left at U.S. 50 and Business 50 in a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier when Matthew C. Lietzke, 19, of California, failed to yield and drove into Collins' path.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Collins hit Lietzke's 2005 Dodge 1500, sending both vehicles off the right side of the road.

Collins was wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries. Mid-Mo Ambulance transported him to SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City for treatment.

Lietzke was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. He was treated by Mid-Mo Ambulance at the scene.
