An Eldon man wanted on several criminal charges in Cole and Miller counties was caught Wednesday after a chase with authorities.

While on patrol in Brumley, a Miller County deputy saw Jesse Wayne Scott, 31, traveling east on Missouri 42, according to a Miller County Sheriff's Department news release.

Scott was wanted on several Miller County warrants and fled from Cole County deputies Tuesday. He is also wanted in relation to several vehicle thefts in multiple counties.

The deputy attempted to stop Scott, who fled at a high speed, causing one crash and endangering other motorists, according to the news release. Scott fled from the vehicle on foot, and after assistance from a citizen, was taken into custody and transported to the Miller County Jail where, as of Wednesday afternoon, he was being held on a no bond probation warrant.

Additional felony charges are expected out of Miller and Cole counties.

Cole County deputies responded at 9 a.m. Tuesday to assist the Jefferson City Police Department in locating Scott, who was wanted in connection with the attempted theft of a motor vehicle that occurred in Jefferson City, according to a news release from Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler.

While searching for Scott, a Cole County deputy was flagged down by a motorist in the 7000 block of Route D and advised of a person matching the description of Scott walking along the highway who was attempting to hide from passing vehicles. The deputy checked the area and reportedly saw Scott running into woods west of the highway toward Scrivner Road.

While fleeing, Scott allegedly burglarized an occupied residence in the 5000 block of Scrivner Road, where he obtained keys to a vehicle parked outside of the residence and stole the vehicle. Scott then fled the area in the stolen vehicle.

Scott is facing charges of first-degree burglary, stealing, tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle in Cole County.
