The Moniteau County Library Board of Trustees met last week, discussing future plans for the Little Free Libraries the group talked about in its first meeting of the year and for an upcoming strategic planning meeting.

The Little Free Libraries - community "take one, leave one" book exchanges - are indeed coming to California; they should be finished by the end of the current school year.

In the meantime, the Library Board is shooting for a June preliminary building committee and strategic planning meeting to nail down details for the future of the library's properties. The Board plans to gather names to contact, pulling from Friends of the Library and other members of the community to ultimately fill out the committee.

In other business, library director Connie Walker informed the board that as of last Wednesday's meeting, the library's check-out challenge had resulted in 127 registrations. The challenge ended Sunday, the last day of February.

Some of the libraries expenses from the past month included $500 to replace a furnace fan motor, and a new expense of $100 per month for an elevator service maintenance contract the library was required by state law to enter into. At last week's meeting, the group also approved $1,726 for two mobile double sided shelving units, which were set to be ordered following the meeting.

The Moniteau County Library Board of Trustees' next regular monthly meeting is set 10 a.m. March 17.
