Republican Club talks Lincoln Day planning

The Moniteau County Republican Club met last Thursday, discussing ongoing planning for the club's Lincoln Day event later this year and hearing briefly from California's mayoral candidates in the upcoming April 6 municipal election.

Lincoln Day is set for June 5, with tickets costing $35 at the door or $25 with an RSVP. The group is starting to work on gathering auction items, and considering offering door prizes as well. Per discussion from last week's meeting, the hope is for the event's speaker to be Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft.

Other discussion topics at last week's meeting included legislation moving through the state level at the present and a public service announcement from Moniteau County Sheriff Tony Wheatley regarding scams related to tax season.

The meeting closed with brief remarks from California mayor candidates Aaron Bishop and Rich Green, who each encouraged club members to get out and vote next month.

The Moniteau County Republican Club's next meeting is set for May 20 at Bobbio's in Tipton.
