A California student was severely injured Friday morning in an accident involving a vehicle outside California High School.
The student was airlifted in a helicopter from the area to a hospital facility in Columbia.
"The student was responsive and interactive with his family and the medical staff there," Moniteau County R-1 Superintendent Dwight Sanders said. "He did have an open head injury and so they did end up taking him by helicopter to Columbia, although more as a precaution at the time, I believe."
No further information about the accident was available from California school administrators or first responders with the California Police Department as of 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.
