Republican Club prepares for May 16 meeting

Republican State Committee member Dick Peerson will be the featured speaker at the Moniteau County Republican Club meeting May 16.

The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at Bobbio's in Tipton.

Peerson, a Cole County native, is a long-time Republican leader in Missouri, having served several years as treasurer of the Missouri Republican Party. He and his wife, Kathy, have had numerous other leadership roles in local, area and statewide political campaigns.

"Dick is the best campaign leader and strategist I know," said Larry Rohrbach, club vice president and former state senator. "He's also about the nicest guy I know, and I look forward to his visit with us."

Peerson spent the majority of his career in the insurance business before retiring in 2018. He was a managing partner at Wallstreet Insurance Agency for the last decade of his career. Before entering the insurance field, he spent time as the executive director of the Missouri Jaycees. Peerson has also owned and operated a small family farm.

His community involvement has included time with the Jefferson City Area Chamber and the Cole County Planning and Zoning Commission. He was recently appointed by Gov. Mike Parson to the Petroleum Tank Insurance Fund Board of Trustees.

The club, which welcomes all Republicans in the county, will also make plans for its annual July summer picnic.
