California park visitors urged to clean up pet waste

Following public complaints regarding pet clean up at Proctor Park, the City of California's Park Department is requesting that park visitors remain diligent in picking up pet waste.

The city provides dog waste stations with bags for clean up and trash receptacles for the waste, but the City Council was informed at Monday's meeting that visitors are neglecting to make use of them.

Representatives with the Park Department said making use of the resource is important for a number of reasons - besides pet waste making for unsightly viewing while walking the trail or sitting on a bench, the city does not want children playing and falling in the waste by accident.

"We just hope people would use better judgment - we have a nice park and just want to keep it clean," Robert Pace, of the Park Department, said.
