Jamestown C-1 School District releases updated procedures for extracurriculars

The Jamestown C-1 School District released updated procedures for student-athletes, coaches, officials and spectators in regard to extracurricular activities.

Per a release from principal Jake Watson, athletic director E.H. Hirschvogel and superintendent Gretchen Guitard, the following guidelines were established for all events hosted in the school gymnasium, including the use of the cafeteria and indoor concessions stand.

Firstly, the district asks that any individuals who feel sick or generally not well do not attend any events.

Face coverings are now required when entering or exiting the building, and social distancing and wearing face coverings while in the gym are both required unless one is seated with immediate family members and socially distanced from other spectators.

Visitors and home spectators will be asked to sit in their appropriately designated areas. Children attending the game should stay with their families in the bleachers and are not allowed to play in the lobby or hallways during activities or sporting events, in an effort to help limit the number of people in the lobby and hallways and allow for better social distancing.

Hand sanitizing stations will be available in the cafeteria, at the school entrance and in the lobby, and restrooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized immediately prior to the event and following the event. To provide custodial staff ample time to sanitize the building prior to the following school day, everyone should exit the building as soon as possible after the end of the event.

Prepackaged concession items will be available during the basketball season. Social distancing while in the cafeteria is expected.

Per the release, access to game and activities may be limited in the future to better accommodate social distancing.
