Much of the Burger clan was on hand - joined by City of California Park Supervisor Robert Pace, California Mayor Rich Green and other city workers - last week as the E.M. Burger Foundation commemorated the installation of a new, towering flag pole at Proctor Park.

The project, which was completed in late July, was made possible by a $6,000 donation from the E.M. Burger Foundation. The donation paid for the 50-foot flag pole and a bench. The whole installation, including the concrete and lights around the display, was completed by the City of California's electric department.

Pace said the concrete was donated by a plant in town, and the city paid for the lights.
