The California boys track and field team opened its season with a win in what was a four-school field that also featured Boonville, Knob Noster and Holden. The Pintos finished with a team score of 40 points, while Holden had 33, Knob Noster had 30 and Boonville had 15.

On the track, Hunter Carpenter, Caden Kirksey, Trey Porter and Trevor Porter led things off with a win in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:30.84. Carpenter would go on to take first two more events, winning the 1600-meter run with a 5:05.94 and the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.31.

Elsewhere in the distance events, the Pintos recorded a sweep in the 3200-meter run as Trevor Porter, Gaven McKee and Trey Porter finished one-two-three.

Trevor Porter won resoundingly with an 11:31.44 while McKee and Trey Porter came in neck-and-neck at 12:47.17 and 12:48.12, respectively.

The California boys made it three wins in four relays as Gunner Baquet, Isaac Ash, Alex Meisenheimer and Toby Dalbey teamed up to win the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:37.61.

The Pintos won the 4x100-meter relay with a 48.18 behind the foursome of Chris Menchaca, Dakota Henry, Nyson Moore and Trevor Gerling.

Meisenheimer and Ash finished one-two in the 300-meter hurdles, in one of the closest races of the day. Meisenheimer won with a 44.47 while Ash came in at 44.74.

The Pintos also had a pair of field event winners as Dalbey won the javelin with a mark of 134-05 and Baquet took first in the triple jump with a 41-07.25.

In girls action, Holden was the winning team with 33 points to edge the Lady Pintos' score of 31. Knob Noster was right behind with 30 points while Boonville finished with 26.

The Lady Pintos dominated the field events with five winners and five more second place finishers. Audrey Pickering won the shot put with a mark of 42-08 and also took first in discus with a 104-03.75.

In both events, Pickering edged teammate Cameron Meyer, who finished a second with a 35-03.25 in shot and a 101-03.5 in discus.

California senior Ellie Wirts was victorious in the long jump with a mark of 15-04. Wirts took second in the triple jump with a 30-04.5.

California's Trinity Higgins won the high jump with a mark of 4-10. Teammate Allison Bailey took second in the event with a 4-06. Higgins placed second in the pole vault with a height of 8-06 while California junior Ashley Sommerer won the pole vault with a 9-00.

On the track, the Lady Pintos' lone win came at the end of the night in the 4x400-meter relay. Wirts, Bailey, Sommerer and Makayla Schanzmeyer teamed up for a winning time of 4:41.10.
