RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - The Calvary Lutheran Lady Lions had a to-do list that needed to be completed in order to beat the Russellville Lady Indians on Thursday.

Possibly the most important thing on the list was not allowing Russellville's press hinder them too much.

That was checked off in the final 4:30 of the game as the Lady Lions only had two of their 25 turnovers during that span to hold off the Lady Indians for a 62-55 win.

"We've been preparing for it," Calvary Lutheran coach Bethany Marble said of the press. "It's one of those games where we knew it was going to be rough, so there were some key things we had to focus on in order to accomplish what we wanted to do."

Russellville cut a nine-point deficit to just two in just a two-minute span in the fourth quarter.

Ally Harris kicked off the 10-3 run with a 3-pointer from the corner. Jayla Volkart added a three-point play and finished it off with a pair of free throws to make it 46-44 with 4:30 left.

Then Allison Procter kicked it into gear for Calvary Lutheran, scoring eight of her 12 points the rest of the game by getting past the press for layups and free throws.

"She stepped up really well," Marble said. "She helps us a lot in practice and I always tell her to be ready. She's a senior, so even if she's not out there on the court, she's expected in some way to still be a leader for our girls and she does that really well."

Haley Braun scored five of her team-high 13 points in the final minute to help seal sixth straight win for Calvary Lutheran (11-5) while ending a five-game winning streak for Russellville (15-7).

"Mostly it's the girls overcoming so many obstacles," Marble said. "A lot of them have been sick off and on. A lot of them have been hurt. We had a big break here and there for a while and now we have games bam, bam, bam in a row. It's a lot of the girls' drive and determination."

The game began with Russellville racing out to a 10-2 lead.

Volkart converted a three-point play, and Harris scored a layup off a steal and added a 3-pointer.

Harris scored a game-high 22 points and Volkart finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

But the lead shrank to 12-9 by the end of the first quarter and Calvary Lutheran took the lead for good on a second-chance basket from Lily McCarty with 6:43 left in the second quarter.

"We didn't do enough little things correct tonight to win," Russellville coach David Volkart said. "Nothing major. When you have a lot of little things they add up. We know what we need to work on and we'll look at film and we'll come back to work tomorrow."

The Lady Indians struggled from the field, shooting 17-of-69 for 25 percent.

Calvary had a 60-41 advantage in rebounds. Katy Allen had a game-high 13 rebounds, while Braun had 12 to complete a double-double and Emma homfeldt pulled down nine boards.

The Lady Indians got into foul trouble as Harris and Macie Edwards fouled out.

"Tonight was excessive," Volkart said. "We were in more foul trouble tonight. We always have our share of fouls, but tonight was a little excessive for us."

Calvary plays Saturday at Climax Springs.

Russellville hosts Linn on Monday for a Show-Me Conference matchup.
