Blair Oaks takes top spot in Class 3 football rankings

The Blair Oaks Falcons ended the 2018 season on top in Class 2.

They enter week 2 of the 2019 football season at No. 1 in Class 3.

The Falcons moved up from No. 2 to No. 1 in this week's edition of the Missouri Media Football Rankings, released Monday night.

Blair Oaks defeated then-Class 2 No. 3 Maryville 23-14 last Friday night at William Jewell in Liberty. Trinity Catholic, last week's No. 1 in Class 3, fell 25-6 to Lutheran North on Saturday night.

Blair Oaks received eight of the nine first-place votes. Trinity, now ranked No. 2, received the other top nod.

Blair Oaks is joined by two other Tri-County Conference schools in the Class 3 poll. Southern Boone (1-0) remains at No. 6 this week, while Boonville (1-0) stayed at No. 9.

Three other area schools are receiving votes in their respective classes - Helias (1-0) in Class 4, along with South Callaway (0-1) and Tipton (1-0) in Class 1.

The No. 1 team in the other five classes remain the same this week - C.B.C. in Class 6, Fort Zumwalt North in Class 5, Ladue in Class 4, Lutheran North in Class 2 and Lincoln in Class 1.

C.B.C., Lutheran North and Lincoln are unanimous selections. Carthage received one first-place vote in Class 5, while Webb City got four first-place votes in Class 4.
