The California Pintos golf team is getting ready for a new season after finishing in fourth place in the Class 2 state meet last year.

Head coach Doug Miller said that he felt that the team should be just as good as last year's team.

"With the young guys coming on from last year and we've got a couple of freshmen coming in that should fill the shoes of the guys that left. I feel like we should be just as good. Now will we get the breaks down the stretch that we did last year and make it to the state tournament? You never know," Miller said. "As far as team wise we should have comparable scores this year as last year."

Miller said that he thinks there is a little pressure on the juniors and seniors to get back to state, but not for the sophomores or freshmen.

This year, Miller said he would like to see the team work on their course management and to work on their short game.

"Not always attack as much as manage the course hole by hole," Miller said.

There are multipe golfers that can have nice years for the Pintos.

"Jordon Geiser, who has been steady for three years. I expect him to be in the running for an All-State honor when the dust settles," Miller said. "Jordan Bondurant contuines to get better and better all the time and Kyle Kirksey has put in a lot of rounds over the summer and has really improved. He was on the edge last year, never did break the varsity line up, this year he is way better than he finished the season last year. We've got a couple of other guys that having been working hard too."
