Michael Stock was named the new head coach for the Jamestown high school girls varsity basketball team and the Jamestown junior high girls basketball team. Stock has previous experience coaching in Topeka, Kansas.

The Jamestown Eagles high school girls basketball team will have a new head coach entering the 2021-22 school year.

Michael Stock was named to the position, and will serve as head coach for both the high school girls varsity team and the junior high girls team.

This is the first year Stock will be at Jamestown. Stock said he came to Jamestown because he saw that the school needed a new coach.

"I responded to the school's need for a staff position that I have experience in and indicated that I would be interested in coaching basketball if a position were to open up," Stock said.

Stock has prior coaching experience entering the role, as he has previously coached in Topeka, Kansas.

When it comes to coaching basketball, Stock said he enjoys teaching the components of the game and seeing players learn from his teachings.

"I enjoy coaching the fundamentals, explaining the components of the game and watching the players grow with their understanding of the game," Stock said.

When practices begin, Stock said he hopes to create a learning experience for both the players and the coaches. Teamwork is going to be one of the skills that Stock said he is going to have the team focus on during practices.

"Some of the skills we will work on are teamwork, reliance upon each other, footwork and good team defense," Stock said.

As the season moves along, Stock said team growth is something he would like to see.

"I would like to see the team grow with each practice and game," Stock said.
